Taking Control of Your Health

You Are What You Eat

Eating a healthy diet, especially a WFPB diet will eliminate the need to worry about fats, carbohydrates and proteins – provided you follow the basic guidelines provided on the Nutrition For Life page.

Let’s look at how Nutritional Therapy can help you to take control of your health, NOW! Nutritional Therapy is a safe and easy way to clean out the body and bring some balance back into your health.

Whilst the Health Imbalances pages provide you some initial guidance into how we approach “dis-ease”, the protocols listed there are by no means set in stone.  Each and every person is different.  How well that person feels depends entirely upon how efficiently their body produces essential enzymes, hormones, and other substances, and gets rid of wastes and toxins that easily interfere with the body’s internal chemistry.

Nutritional deficiencies occur when we eat foods that are not rich in vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and other important nutrients i.e. a standard modern-day diet of fast foods, ready meals that are high in unhealthy fats, sugar, colourants, preservatives, GMOs, and refined carbohydrates.  Having read the page: Daily Nutrition: What are we eating, you will by now have gained some understanding of how you reached this point in your life.

Being nutrient deficient affects every system in the body – skin, immune system, nerve cells, bones, mental health, and hormones. Over time, your tissues lose strength, hormones no longer do what they are supposed to do and become weaker.  Your emotional reaction to things is out of balance and nerves are stretched and frayed to a point where you can no longer remain composed even in the least trying of situations.  Your fertility wanes and your skin and hair become dry, brittle, and lifeless.  As the deficiency worsens, eventually your moods do as well and your ability to gain refreshing, restorative sleep falls by the wayside and chronic tiredness develops.

This deficiency affects a woman’s monthly cycle – period pains worsen, become heavier or diminish altogether and PMS is present every month.  In young adults/adolescents’ acne is the norm and younger children become hypersensitive to these foods causing concentration problems and health issues.

The longer you deprive your immune system from vital nourishment, the less your immune system can protect against chronic diseases, like cancer and heart disease.

The difference between Food allergies and Food Intolerances is that whilst both can make you feel ill – food allergies such as an allergy to peanuts for example can be life-threatening.  Food intolerances on the other hand can occur at times when digestion is weak and those foods not digested completely come into contact with white blood cells, resulting in histamine being produced by the body. Read more on food intolerances here.

Lethargy, exhaustion, constant tiredness, frequent nagging headaches, psoriasis, fluid retention and chronic degenerative diseases all point towards an overloaded liver and toxins.  The liver is responsible for dealing with these toxins and the harder it has to work, the more nourishment it requires.
