Choose a simple stock and then experiment with tastes.
You may add one option from each line without ruining the soup:
- 1 protein: beans, lentils or peas (split)
- Sweetener: dates
- Black or cayenne pepper
- Lemon or vinegar to make it sour
- One to three spices (try cumin, cinnamon, oregano, thyme, or experiment with your own ideas)
- Garnish with nuts or fresh herbs to taste
